Xperia X10 Android 2.1 Custom ROM Imminent?

We have moved to Best Android Downloads Website. Download the best android apps and games for free and with no registration!
As guys at XDA try to come up with some better custom rom for our devices, we're getting news after news. And it's all good news...

As you can see by the attachments, it's plain android ROM without SE UI, which is cool, and also, performance is 3 times faster than what it is on the current updated Xperia X10... Keep your eyes on this blog, and you will be one of the first to know, when it's actually released....

Download Linpack for android from the market, and run the benchamrk test, and then compare it to the first screenshot you see here... See how fast it can be with the new custom Eclair ROM...

This is what they report to be working and not as of today:

working
-rom flashable into device
-backlight
-2D
-3D
-power management
-audio
-G sensor
-adb enabled at boot (usefull for debuging)
-GPS
-GSM
-WIFI

Not working
-CAMERA
-BT

2.1 Custom ROM CYANOGEN 5.0.8

work in progress

  2. Hey Yash... thanks for following dude... Ok Long story short. I always had a rooted phone because there are a lot of advantages. I will bring you some of them:
    1. as you said, remove unwanted apps
    2. install some cool apps that can only be installed on a rooted device... e.g. titanium backup
    3. you can have some apps that can change your theme settings, font family, font size and some other cool stuff that's not available on an unrooted device.
    4. you can load custom roms on it - custom roms usually are much better in usability, speed and beauty/effects
    5. you can even install some computer OS on top of your rooted android... I installed ubuntu on my xperia x10 (both 1.6 and 2.1)...

These stuffs aren't something you can do with unrooted phone... besides, the custom froyo and eclair rom are going to be available very soon, so get ready... but, i'm not responsible if you break your phone or anything....

    Cheers.

  4. Sure man... Get your phone rooted... and prepare yourself... I'm going to shoot a video on this subject soon, and provide with the files, so you could enjoy... Using Ubuntu on your phone, of course, isn't fun... but it's something incredible... just the feeling that your computer is something that's run only on computers... That's score... )
